1.0 Scope

This instruction takes a tester through the ACTOM TMS demonstration system: creating and moving jobs through the shop, booking tooling from the shop-floor kiosk, and confirming that stock, permissions and history behave correctly. Working through clause 4 in order follows one job through its entire life.

Report all findings per clause 6 — a confusing screen counts as much as a fault.

2.0 Access & test accounts

Log in with a clock number. The password for every account below is Actom (capital A, the rest lowercase).

Working tip: open two browser windows (one normal, one private/incognito) to hold two roles at once — e.g. create a job as an engineer and watch it appear for Ivan.

3.0 Job flow — single point of control

Every job carries a numbered production route, exactly like a physical job card. A job is moved forward in one place only: the JOB CONTROL panel at the top of that job's page, which always offers exactly one correct next step.

4.0 Test procedure

Perform in sequence. Use your own job number in 4.2–4.6 (for example your initials' digits — J100041, J100042 …) so parallel testers don't collide. Tick the acceptance box only if the observed result matches.

4.1 Foreman dashboard orientation LOGIN 1001
  1. Log in as 1001 — you land on the Machine Shop Dashboard.
  2. Read the summary cards: P1 breakdowns, overdue, due today, machines running / down, low stock.
  3. Locate the red P1 — BREAKDOWN / URGENT panel. Urgent work never hides in a list.
  4. Apply and clear filters on the job table (priority, machine, machinist, overdue).
  5. Open Machines; identify the machine standing in BREAKDOWN.
Accept when one screen answers "what is happening in my shop right now?"
4.2 Raise a job from engineering LOGIN 2001
  1. In a second window, log in as 2001 and choose Create Job.
  2. Enter your job number, description "Test Rotor Machining", priority P1, required date tomorrow.
  3. Attempt to save with the P1 reason empty — the form must refuse.
  4. Provide a reason. Note the routing is already filled in with the shop's standard route (Milling → Turning → QC) — keep it and save.
  5. Refresh Ivan's window.
Accept when the job appears for Ivan immediately, inside the P1 panel.
4.3 Move the job — Job Control only LOGIN 1001
  1. As Ivan, open your job. JOB CONTROL offers a single step — Mark as received. Execute it.
  2. Next step becomes Allocate Milling — assign a machine and machinist (Michael, 3001) with a target time.
  3. Back on the job page, execute Start Milling. The machine goes RUNNING.
  4. Observe the route strip and activity record updating after each step.
Accept when at no point did you choose between movement buttons — one step was offered each time.
4.4 Book tooling at the kiosk LOGIN 3001
  1. Open /kiosk/ — preferably on a phone or tablet.
  2. Log in as 3001, enter your job number, confirm the job card.
  3. Tap tooling tiles — DNMG04 ×4, CCMT02 ×1 — then CONFIRM ISSUE.
  4. Let the success screen count down and log you out on its own.
Accept when the job page (as Ivan) shows the tooling usage with your name, and Stock Overview shows the reduced quantities.
4.5 Return unused tooling LOGIN 3001
  1. At the kiosk, enter the same job and choose Return tooling.
  2. Return 2 × DNMG04.
Accept when stock rises by 2 and the job reads Issued 4 / Returned 2 / Net 2 — the original issue stays on record.
4.6 Attempt to overdraw stock LOGIN 3001
  1. Build a kiosk cart with more of a low item than is available (tiles show live quantities — TAP-M12 is a good candidate).
  2. Add a second, well-stocked item to the same cart. Confirm.
Accept when a plain INSUFFICIENT STOCK message states requested vs available and neither cart line was booked. Stock cannot silently go negative.
4.7 Big-screen production board LOGIN 9001
  1. Log in as 9001; open /display/production/; press F11.
  2. Leave it running — it refreshes itself every 20 seconds.
  3. As Ivan, complete a stage on any job and watch the board follow.
Accept when it reads from metres away and shows no prices and no admin functions.
4.8 Planning board & supervisor limits LOGIN 2501
  1. Log in as 2501 (George); open the Planning Board.
  2. Assign a waiting job to a machine; reorder a queue with ▲▼.
  3. Use Open ▸ on a card — confirm stage movement lives on the job page, not the board.
  4. Type /manage/employees/ into the address bar.
Accept when planning works and the admin page refuses — assistants plan, they don't administer.
4.9 Costing visibility LOGIN 1001 / 2001
  1. As Ivan: Reports → Job tooling usage → select J100001. Note the Rand column and total.
  2. Open the same job as Christopher (2001).
Accept when the engineer sees identical quantities and no cost figures anywhere — withheld by the server, not hidden by the page.
4.10 Audit trail & corrections LOGIN 1001
  1. Open Admin → Audit Trail; find every action you performed in 4.2–4.9.
  2. Open Stock → Transactions; reverse part of an issue with a reason.
Accept when the correction appears as its own entry and the original is still there — history is never deleted.

5.0 Deliberate abuse checks

6.0 Reporting findings

For every fault, question or idea, record:
